Allen Edwin is proud to be the largest builder in Western Michigan. But what makes them even more proud is the fact that they've raised their families here for generations. Their connection to the community runs deep, and it shows in how well they meet the needs of their friends and customers. Allen Edwin Homes -10 Point Homebuilding Smart System
Typically the inefficiencies of homebuilders are passed on to buyers in the form of higher prices under the disguise of higher quality. At Allen Edwin, we believe customers shouldn’t pay extra for a homebuilder’s inefficiencies. That’s why we developed a smarter way to build homes that actually are higher quality. We call it our “10 Point Smart System.” Collectively, these disciplines enable us to build homes and deliver services of higher quality at a lower cost. We believe this is a smarter way to build, and buy, a new home. We trust you will, too.
1. Controlled Volume
By controlling the number of homes we build on a daily, weekly and annual basis, we can deliver high quality homes on schedule. Limiting production volume may not be viewed as best for the builder, but at Allen Edwin we believe it is best for those who matter most — our customers.
2. Smart Flow
Building a home requires the scheduling of numerous processes, contractors and suppliers. Traditionally, these critical steps are not done in an efficient or optimized manner. Allen Edwin has developed a smarter way to manage the process that leads to significant savings for our customers. We focus on a daily volume of business throughout the entire building process. Each step in the process is critical and managed daily. These daily disciplines range from processing blueprints to delivering cabinets. This unique approach to homebuilding produces increased productivity and decreased waste equaling a superior value to our customers.

3. Centralized Scheduling
Can the scheduling practices of a builder affect the cost and quality of the home? Absolutely! Builders typically leave many of these duties to the superintendent of the community. This leads to inefficiencies for the suppliers and contractors. In addition, it takes time away from the superintendent's duties. Ultimately, these inefficiencies lead to higher cost and dissatisfaction. At Allen Edwin, we utilize a central scheduling system that provides consistency to our suppliers and contractors while freeing up our Personal Builders to spend time delivering quality and servicing our customers. Once again, this “smarter” approach to homebuilding leads to significant benefits to our customers.
4. Value Engineering The first rule in reducing costs is reducing waste. On any given job site, waste can exist in the form of labor and materials. Through collaboration with contractors and suppliers, Allen Edwin has worked diligently to value engineer the home to optimize efficiency and quality, while minimizing waste. This disciplined process leads to a better home at a better price.
5. Low Cost Producer
Allen Edwin is as committed to controlling all building costs associated with the home. This is achieved by creating low operating overhead, low operating variances, high productivity and greater efficiency. The benefit you get by choosing an efficient, low cost builder is a lower cost home and a better value.
6. Supply Chain Optimization
An additional benefit of Centralized Scheduling and Smart Flow is the opportunity to optimize the process of home delivery. Just in time delivery practices are utilized to decrease inventory and lower delivery costs. In addition, by paying our vendors weekly, we are able to receive early payment discounts and attract top suppliers at better prices. Once again, by being smarter we are decreasing costs while increasing quality.
7. Built-In Quality
From the early stages of design to the final inspection, Allen Edwin has gone to great lengths to implement quality standards and practices. This means building quality into the home throughout the process. Several industries outside of homebuilding have utilized this philosophy to significantly increase the final quality of their products. Allen Edwin has adopted these philosophies along with our daily inspection processes to create a system that ensures we build quality and reliability into every home.
8. Builder and Developer
One of the most significant costs of a home is the land it is built upon. By owning our own excavation company and developing the land in the majority of our communities, Allen Edwin is able to significantly decrease the overall cost of the home. Once again, through being highly efficient and focused, Allen Edwin is able to pass on a superior value to you.
9. People and Products that Perform
Allen Edwin is committed to only utilizing top brand name products, selected to ensure quality and service. In addition, we believe the individuals working on the home are as important as the products they are installing. We go to extreme measures to ensure we team up with quality contractors and suppliers who will get the job done right. Rest assured, at Allen Edwin you will have peace of mind that your home is being built by the best.
10. Shortened Cycle Time
As the saying goes, and it is true in homebuilding, time is money. By taking advantage of Controlled Volume, Smart Flow and Centralized Scheduling we are able to significantly decrease the amount of time it takes to build the home. Our streamlined process to decrease cost leads to a superior home value. |
